TOEFL Overview

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a standardized test that measures the English language proficiency of the non-native English speakers who wish to enroll in an English speaking university.

Moreover, this test is accepted by various English-speaking academic and professional institutions all over the world. The test is given in English and is administered via the internet.

The TOEFL test lengths about 3 hours with 4 sections in total - Speaking and Writing, Listening, and Reading.

Speaking Overview

The TOEFL Speaking section is designed to measure your ability to speak English effectively in academic settings. It is composed of 4 tasks that resemble real-life situations you might encounter both in and outside of a classroom.

You'll get 15–30 seconds of preparation time before each response, and your response will be 45 or 60 seconds long.

To respond, you'll speak into the microphone on your headset. Your responses are recorded and sent to ETS, where they will be scored by a combination of AI scoring and certified human raters to ensure fairness and quality.

You have 17 minutes to complete the Speaking section.

What will I achieve?

On completion you will get an IELTS completion certificate. IELTS is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English, and was established in 1989. IELTS is one of the major English-language tests in the world.
